Fred Elkin founded Connie's Shoe Repair in 1911. These days, the shop is run by Fred's grandson, Nathan—a cobbler of the people, by the people, for the people. At the counter, Nathan will greet you like a long-lost friend, and you'll bump elbows with some of Virginia's most powerful politicians, as well as doctors, lawyers, maybe even the occasional hipster.
